At the origin of the new concept of Les Hôtels Littéraires is the collector and bibliophile Jacques Letertre.
By dedicating each of his hotels to his favorite writers, this book lover wishes to share his passion with all visitors. It's an invitation to travel and culture in the universe of a beloved author to (re)find the pleasure of reading during a stay in Paris, Rouen, Clermont-Ferrand and Biarritz.
The decoration of these four-star hotels honors the writer chosen by different contemporary artistic approaches for a unique cultural stay with Marcel Proust, Gustave Flaubert, Alexandre Vialatte, Marcel Aymé, Arthur Rimbaud and Jules Verne. Multilingual libraries of five hundred books are at the disposal of the readers, not far from the first editions and the art bindings exposed in the windows.

Each Hôtel Littéraire has a space dedicated to displaying the collections gathered over the years on each writer: manuscripts, works of art and period objects rub shoulders with contemporary creations by local artists who reinterpret the classics.
